Mommyhood

Lazy mom days

Yesterday, it was noon and I had just gotten my youngest up from her morning nap. I sat down with the kids to play a bit and realized that they had not yet gotten changed out of their jammies. They had no desire, and we weren’t doing anything, so what’s the harm, right? They’d been playing nicely all morning and we just weren’t feeling it.

It was about this time I started feeling guilty. I should have them dressed, out of the house and doing something fun, right? I feel like, especially since having my third, I haven’t done as much out of the house with them. I immediately felt justified, empowered and mad at myself for having doubts so I decided to make a video(head on over to https://www.facebook.com/BonafideMommy/ to see that).

This time goes by so fast. My kids love each other and they love playing together. They do enjoy getting out of the house but at the end of the day, when I asked my son what his favorite part of the day was, he shared that it was when his sister played in his room with him. My daughter’s favorite part was the same. They see happiness and fun in just about anything. Some of my favorite memories as a child was playing with my sisters, no matter what we were doing.

The reality is, our life is about to change. I know this may seem insignificant to some but for us, its big. My oldest is starting school later this month. While it’ll be great and we’re all excited about it, even looking forward to it, it is going to be a big adjustment. Everyday we will be getting up early, dressed, out the door, hanging without our big sister for a few hours, running errands, missing naps….making new memories.

So for today, it’s okay to lounge in jammies all day, be lazy, have fun playing, eating way too many snacks, watch a little too much tv, snuggle and just chill. If you’re like me and you feel guilty after days like today, don’t. Snuggle up and enjoy your babies. Time flies and it’s okay to hold on to every little second. Enjoy today!
